ActNow Theatre Company will deliver an interactive Anti-bullying program to Year 8 and 9 students, explicitly related to homophobia and founded in Australia’s Federal and State Anti-Discrimination Laws and DECD School policies.
The main themes of the ACTNow Theatre performance related to the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC) are:
The right to be safe:
- safety and risk taking, warning signs and emergencies
Relationships
- bullying as an abuse of power
Recognising and reporting abuse
- recognizing abuse, identifying abuse
Protective strategies
- problem solving strategies, and community support
The KS:CPC fits primarily within the Health and Physical Education learning area of the Australian Curriculum but can also be incorporated across other Learning Areas.
