Team Sailing Results
/What is Team Sailing?
Team sailing in South Australia began with 4 schools- Victor Harbor High (VHHS), Port Lincoln High, St Joseph’s (in Pt Lincoln) and St Andrews (Adelaide) 27 years ago. VHHS is the only public school that has entered at least one team in every one of those 27 years of competition. The only other school to achieve this is St Joseph's of Port Lincoln.
Team Sailing provides a unique opportunity for students to not only gain experience with sailing in general, but students also gain the tools to engage in tactical high level thinking skills on the water. Team Sailing is available to students throughout Terms 1 & 4 and can open the door to careers within aquatic related industries via VET pathways. Teams train after school throughout Terms 1 and 4 and have the opportunity to become involved in the local Yacht Clubs outside of these times.
Team Sailing Regional Regatta 2018
In week 5, on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd March, the Victor Harbor High School Sailing Team competed in a 2-day Regional Regatta on the beautiful Murray River, at Goolwa Aquatic Club.
We formed two composite teams with Encounter Lutheran (our training partners) and the two teams placed equal third. There were teams from VHHS, Encounter Lutheran College, Investigator College, and Meningie Area School!
We all enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, meeting new friends and getting reacquainted with each other from previous years.
During the April school holidays, the teams will compete in the SA Secondary Schools Team Sailing State Championships being held, once again, at Goolwa Aquatic Club from Thursday 19th April until Saturday 21st April. We hope to see lots of people come out to cheer our teams on.
Well done Team Sailors!
